Mr. Rea holds Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating—the highest rating awarded for legal ability and ethical standards. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1993, where he also served as an editor of the Law Review. After graduation, he clerked for the Honorable Howard S. Chasanow of the Court of Appeals of Maryland (now Maryland’s Supreme Court).
Over the course of his career, Mr. Rea has practiced with AmLaw 100 and 200 law firms, becoming an equity partner in 2000. He has held multiple leadership roles, including Chair of the Construction Practice and Co-Chair of the Financial Services Practice for an AmLaw 200 firm of more than 350 attorneys across 16 offices in 10 states and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Rea has been actively engaged in advancing the legal profession. He has served on numerous bar association and court committees, including:
Instructor at the Maryland Judicial Education University on business and technology legal topics
Member of the e-discovery local rules committee for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland
Former Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Business and Technology Committee
He is also a senior editor and principal author of the legal treatise Litigating Contracts in Maryland (Lexis Publishing, 2019). In addition, Mr. Rea has been a frequent lecturer before the American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association, and various industry groups, including the Associated General Contractors of America and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Outside of his professional work, Don is a proud husband and father of three adult children. He has lived and worked his entire career in the greater Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area and enjoys tennis, golf, skiing, and traveling anywhere with his family.
